BATHURST

Not a traditional tour but the Bathurst Cycling Classic is very popular with SCC members. Riders from all over the state and beyond descend into bathurst for several events spread over the weekend including criterium racing, hill climb championships, an event village and the much anticipated B2B Gran Fondo. The Bathurst Cycling Classic offers you a cycling experience you’ll love.

On Saturday there’s a few options. For the climbers there’s the NSW Hill Climb Championships - a 4.1km climb in Harris Park, Mount Panorama. This is also a qualifier for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships Hill Climb. For the sprinters there’s some serious Criterium racing at the Mount Panorama Pit Complex. There’s races across all the divisions so there’s something for everyone.
Alternatively if you don’t fancy racing there will be a few of us who go out for a spin to warm up the legs for Sunday. After you can stroll around the town and event village where you can enjoy street food, great coffee, award winning wines, craft beer and ciders and live music, while kids can take advantage of the free activities.

The most popular event is the B2B on Sunday and it's the reason most club members go to Bathurst. The course was redesigned by Mark Renshaw and now starts and finishes in the Bathurst CBD. B2B has long been included as one of three Australian qualifying events for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships. Some members race the event in a bid to qualify whilst lots will just do it for fun or to achieve a personal best. Either way it’s a joy to ride on fully closed roads.
